The OncoNeivia ice cap minimizes the hair loss caused by chemotherapy.
Numerous clinical trials have shown that hypothermia, i.e., lowering the temperature of the scalp, reduces the risk of alopecia. caused by the anti-cancer treatments such as Taxol , FEC For example.
The OncoNeivia ice cap promotes vasoconstriction in the hair bulbs, starting at the base of the neck. This means that the vessels constrict in the cold, preventing large chemotherapy molecules from entering. This therefore preserves your hair.
The cooling helmet remains flexible at all temperatures and perfectly covers the entire head.
What to expect during the session?
Before the session:
- Preparation : The ice cap is placed on your head before the start of chemotherapy. It must be in good contact with the scalp.
- Duration : The ice cap must be worn before, during, and after chemotherapy. This can last between 1 and 3 hours depending on your treatment.
During the session:
- Sensations : Initially, you will feel a sensation of intense cold that may last 10 to 15 minutes. After this, most patients get used to it. You may experience a headache or a tingling sensation.
- Comfort : We recommend bringing a warm sweater, a blanket, and a good book or podcast to keep you entertained.
After the session:
- After removal : Once chemotherapy is complete, the ice cap will remain on your head for approximately 30 to 60 minutes. After that, you can remove the helmet and resume your normal activities.
First, ask your healthcare team for advice to ensure its effectiveness in treating hair loss. The use of the helmet depends on your treatment and your sensitivity.
